Major Milestone Achievement for FCCT

On Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Hazel Reinhardt, President and CEO, FCCT and Tom Flynn FCCT Board Chair, were privileged to be at the KCMC Cancer Care Centre’s Radiation Therapy Unit. They were present to recognize and celebrate the first five patients to be treated on the state-of-the-art linear accelerator funded by a USAID award to FCCT and with its own funds. 


This was a momentous occasion and the culmination of many years of work made possible by all of our generous donors. The realization of providing radiotherapy for the people of Tanzania elevates the Cancer Care Centre to the status of a truly comprehensive care delivery facility for patients with cancer.


Be sure to join us on March 21 for the 2026 FCCT gala to celebrate this landmark and support the process of moving forward Toward a Centre of Excellence for East Africa. The focus will be on people, outreach, and research:


  • continue to recruit, educate/train the best oncology doctors and staff for KCMC
  • provide outreach programs to educate people and providers about cancer, treatability and availability of care at KCMC
  • research in the form of clinical trials providing KCMC and patients access to the latest therapies to improve outcomes
